Introduction

Feed the bookworm's endless apetite with words formed by connecting adjoining letter tiles. Use up any burning letters before they reach the bottom to prevent the library setting on fire. A superb word game for beginners and experts alike and a fine way to increase your vocabulary.

BookWorm Features

How To Install

Use an extractor program such as WinZip on the PC or Stuffit Expander on the Mac to get at the BookWorm for Palm files. Install the game by double-clicking the prc file.

Use the HotSync button as usual to install the game onto your handheld. If you have a handheld with an expansion card, you may move the game over to it. Do this before you register the game!

Now run BookWorm for Palm and tap the screen to play the game!

If you've got any queries about BookWorm for Palm or the registration process, first check out our knowledge base on our website (you must be connected to the internet to access this). If this doesn't help, get in touch with us at support@astraware.com. If you've got any questions (or suggestions, we love those) about the game itself, please get in touch with us at the email address at the top of this page.

How to Play BookWorm

Simply connect letters that are touching into chains that form a word. Make words between 3 and 8 letters long and then feed them to the hungry bookworm. Making longer words will give you bonus tiles that are worth more points. Beware the burning tiles! They will burn through the tile below each time you feed the bookworm. When they reach the bottom the game is over and the library will be set on fire. You can use the burning tiles in your word to get rid of them.

Controls

You can either tap each letter in turn and then tap the last letter twice to submit a word or you can drag the stylus across the letters and release to submit a word. Tapping on the bookworm will shuffle the tiles but beware, all bonus tiles gained so far will be lost and some red tiles will appear.

Game Settings

If you access the Game settings menu you will have the option to show or hide the letter points and the glow effects. The letter points are the points that each letter is worth and is displayed on the bottom right of the tiles. The glow effects may slow the game down on some machines and can be turned off to increase performance.

Tips

Try to get long words, there is no time limit and words longer than 5 letters will be rewarded with a gold super bonus tile. Collect a few of these bonus tiles and use them all in one word for massive scores. sometimes you'll have to settle for the three letter words when you need to get rid of a burnig tile.

Try to group common endings together like 'ing' and 'tion' you'll surely be able to make a starter with a bit of effort and youll soon have some eight letter words to submit.

Try to get the bonus word, You'll get 500 times the number of bonus words you have made for each one, so if you get 9 bonus words, the 10th will be worth 5000

Registering

If you downloaded the game straight from the internet, from Astraware's web pages, or from one of the popular handheld download sites, then your copy is in 'Demo' form.

In Demo form, you can play 10 games of BookWorm for Palm for free, as you decide whether you like it or not. After these games are up, the program will display a short message asking you to register on the internet or purchase a full version from a shop!

If you beam a demo to someone else, and they also like the game, then they can register it either by purchasing a copy from a local store, or by purchasing online.
