Saving the Game

Save points
: When you restart the game, it will return to the exact state you left it in. However, if you are killed, you will be sent back to your last save point. To save the game you must sleep at an inn. You will then be able to return to that save point if you are killed while adventuring.
Sleep: You may only sleep in certain areas such as the bedrooms at an inn. To enter a bedroom you must first buy a room key from the innkeeper. Once you are in the bedroom, go to the main menu and select  'Sleep'. All of your hit points and mana points will be restored and six hours will pass. The game will be saved. NOTE: There are other special areas besides bedrooms where you can sleep.

Learning & Improving Spells

Buying and learning a new spell: You can buy new spells from magic shops and traveling merchants. They will sell you a scroll containing the spell you wish to learn. Once you have bought the scroll, go to the 'Use Item' list and select the scroll. The scroll will disappear and the new spell will appear in your spell list. You may then make this spell active by selecting it from the 'Change Spell' list.
Spell Levels
You can improve your ability with a particular spell by buying and reading the same type of scroll several times. Each time you learn the same spell, you go up one level. The higher the level, the more likely you are to inflict  maximum damage with that spell. Each spell has four levels:

Tùs Stairn: the spell's initial level.
Dara Stairn: the spell is effective in combat.
Treas Stairn: the spell has greater effect.
Feàrr Stairn: the spell often inflicts maximum damage.

Tablets
You can also learn spells from from tablets hidden in dungeons. You cannot go up in level by reading a tablet more than once.
