The Country Information Database provides
you with information about more than 260 countries and territories.
It includes each place's location on the world map, its capital
city, language (official and common), currency (code, name, rate),
time (current time, difference from GMT, DST period) and telephone
codes (country code, area code of capital and major cities, international
dial prefix number and AT&T access number). You can search
the database by keyword.
As well as being a useful resource in its own right, information in the Country Information Database is used when you select currencies used in the Currency Exchange from the "Set Exchange Rates" view or add cities in the World Clock application from the "World Clock Setting" view as detailed above in section 8 or 9, respectively.
10-1 How to use the Country Information Database
Select the continent that the country you are after is in, from a choice of: North America, South America, Africa, Europe, NIS, Asia/Middle East, and Oceania/Pacific. Individual countries are listed alphabetically. Select a country (you can see more countries by tapping the arrow or pressing the Up/Down hardware buttons). The other way is to tap the country on the map in the "Map" mode.
Tap one of the (from left to right) "Map", "Info", "Time" or "Phone" icons to view that type of information. If you want to add your original information, you can add note to the countries ("Note" icon). You can also search for a country using a keyword search by tapping the magnifying glass icon (far right).
10-2 "Map" mode
In map mode, the approximate location of the country blinks on the world map. To jump to the desired country, tap its place on the map. The list showing the names of the countries nearby will appear and select one you want.
10-3 "Info" mode
This displays the capital city, language spoken (official and common), and currency (name/code /rate).
This mode provides you the currency conversion function. Tap on the screen around currency info or "Info" icon, Currency Exchange window appears. Select currency to change from and input value using calculator, you will find the equal value on your base currency.
10-4 "Time" mode
This displays current time, variation from GMT, and DST period.
This mode provides you the time calc function. Tap upper half of the screen or "Time" icon, Calc Time window appears. Set the time on the city you want to calc from using UP/DOWN button (you can use those on the window or hard buttons), the time on the opposit city will change automatically.
10-5 "Phone" mode
This provides telephone information, including country code, area code, international code and AT&T access number.
You can move between two mode by tapping "Earth/Country" icon or "Telephone" icon. If the Area Code or AT&T Access Number information can not be shown in the given area, the UP/DOWN arrows appears on the "Earth/Country" icon. You can scroll these information using these arrows or can open the information window by tapping the information field.
10-6 "Note" mode
You can add your personal note to the World Database using "Note". Tap upper half of the screen or "Note" icon, "Edit Note" window will appear. You can write your information there and tap "OK", your note will be added. The new note icon show you that there is some information in the note.
10-7 "Search" mode
This provides the search for a country using a keyword.
Tap "Search" icon to enter Find mode. Select field to serach and input key word to search. Tap "Find" button to start searching. If you found the desired data, tap it to jump there.
