The only way to distinguish different display is to check PalmOS version number. Most Palm units that have PalmOS version 3.1 and above would have 16 gray level. However, some 3rd party, like TRG, memory upgrade may contain PalmOS upgrade as well, which would provide inconsistant display information. Thus, AlbumToGo would detect wrong display mode. If this is the case, goto AlbumToGo's Preferences menu and force 4 gray level display. ----- Beaming the AlbumToGo Palm application to another party. Before beaming the AlbumToGo application insure the receiving Palm does not have any AlbumToGo image files. All AlbumToGo image files will be remove during the beaming process. Due to the system architecture and the way AlbumToGo manages files, PalmOS sees AlbumToGo and all of its related files as one file (i.e. images are stored as AlbumToGo resources in a file). So, when beaming the AlbumToGo application, should the receiving unit select "Yes" when asking whether to over write the application, all the AlbumToGo image files will be removed. ----- Over-writing files Make sure that the image file name is different before HotSync-ing. Old image files with the same name will be over-written. ----- 4 levels of alpha blending (gray scale fading). Because 4 levels of gray scale do not produce a lot of gradient to accommodate fading, image quality is not as good as on Palm units with 16 levels of gray scale. Palm V produces the best gray scale graduation. ----- On Palm units other than Palm V To produce the best image quality on Palm units other than Palm V, simply adjust the screen contrast using the contrast dial located on the left side of the Palm. ----- Avoiding inferred confirmation dialog when receiving files. After receiving an image file via inferred, a confirmation dialog box will be displayed if you are not in AlbumToGo. To avoid the confirmation dialog, simply receive the file while in AlbumToGo. However, when the receiving file has the same name as an existing file, a confirmation dialog box will be displayed to confirm if the old file should be over-written.
