Overview Tracer is a flexible inventory/ asset program that can be customized to meet your needs in minutes. Tracer features custom field settings giving you the power to arrange the data entry screen into a format that works best for your particular application. How To Set Up a Tracer Database
Choose Field Names
STEP 1: Choose four attributes that will allow you to easily find and analyze the items you plan on tracking. Next choose your primary field, the field you will sort and search on. This will be "field 1" of your database, choose field 2 , field 3 and field 4 based on the order you will most often enter data. | |

STEP 2: Now that you have chosen your field labels proceed to the field settings screen by tapping your menu icon ( Show Menu Icon ) on your Palm. Tap field 1 and enter the name you plan to call this field. Next choose field 2 and enter it’s name follow the same steps for field 3 and 4. STEP 3: After you have entered all of your field names you may want to see how they will appear on Tracer’s grid screen and the data entry screen.Tap the “Done” button this will bring you back to your grid. Grid columns can be sized to the particular width you desire by tapping a field names and |
dragging it left or right. Note: How data is viewed in the grid may actually be more important than the actual field names. Now proceed to the entry screen by pressing the new button at the bottom of the grid screen. Once at the data entry screen you may want to enter some sample data similar to what you want to track to see how it is viewed on the grid. |
Setup of After Scan Features
These features allow the user to speed data entry, they can be adjusted throughout a data collection session or the life of a database on your palm. It is strongly recommended that they be used to improve accuracy and speed.
Go To Setup: This feature allows the user to set the tabs to speed data entry. The user can create loops which by pass fields which will remain the same for repeat entries. For example if shelf # and aisle # are fields 3 and 4 you may want to set field 1 to go to field 2 and field 2 to go to field 1, when you enter a new shelf or aisle simply tap the that record and change it and it will remain constant unit you enter the next shelf or aisle.
Auto Submit: Check this box if you want to automatically submit the record to database after the last field is submitted
Clear on Submit: Check this box if you want data last entered in a field to cleared after it is submitted. This should be unchecked when you are bypassing fields in your Go To tabs. In the example described in the Go To section the clear on submit would be un checked for the aisle and shelf fields.
