Release Notes ------------- Known Issues ------------ The following issues are known to exist in this version of Pocket Tunes. 1178: Popup console does not work with Acid Solitaire or Acid Freecell. There is a bug in those applications that would cause a crash if the popup console is displayed. Red Mercury has a fix planned for version 3.0 of these applications, however the console will still not work until we re-enable it. 1418: Sony CLIE TH-55 buffers excessively on some ShoutCast stations. This problem is dramatically better after installing the WiFi update available from Sony. This appears to be a problem with the TH-55's network implementation for unreliable networks. When connecting to a highly reliable ShoutCast server (such as one on the local network), the TH-55 has no problems. When connecting to stations over the Internet (e.g. using a cable modem), however, the TH-55 begins to lag behind when there is the slightest disturbance in TCP traffic. Once this begins to happen, the TCP connection never recovers, reducing itself to a maximum speed of approximately 20-40kbps. After long delays, Pocket Tunes will reconnect to the station, which will temporarily "revive" it until the TCP traffic is again affected by this phenomena. We have contacted Sony about this problem. If this is still a problem after installing the update from Sony, we recommend using stations of 56kbps or lower, as can be found at www.treobits.com or using stations hosted on a local area network. Also, make sure to turn OFF the power saving feature for your WiFi connection. Your CLIE should have come with instructions on how to do this. 496: Crash when turning off networking while playing ShoutCast music. If you turn off networking while Pocket Tunes is playing ShoutCast music, the Palm will sometimes lock up or crash. To safely turn off networking, stop playing ShoutCast music by selecting a non-streaming music file to play (or by pressing Stop and quitting Pocket Tunes), and then turn off networking. 1031: Apparent lockup after BackupMan runs. After BackupMan runs while Pocket Tunes is active, Pocket Tunes will stop responding. This is a problem with BackupMan 1.45 and earlier. The author has been contacted and asked to release a fix. He has promised a fix for the upcoming 2.0 release. If you experience this lockup, press the Home button (or tap the Home icon) to launch the Palm launcher. Then restart Pocket Tunes. 1450: SilkletManager can cause a crash with Pocket Tunes. Disable SilkletMgr (or move it to a card) after configuring the silk plugins, and the crash will no longer occur. 1662: Switch5 causes a crash if configured to respond to same pen swipe as pTunes. To solve this, change the pen swipe that activate the pTunes background console in Background Preferences. Or disable the conflicting pen swipe from the Switch5 preference panel. 1528: Windows Media Player gets confused with more than one Palm connected. If you connect more than one Palm device to your PC at the same time, the Windows Media Player interface to copy music to your handheld may get confused and not list any Palm devices. To correct this, disconnect all of your handhelds and then connect one at a time while using Windows Media Player to transfer files. 1573: When McAfee Virus Scan is running, Windows Media Player may react very slowly when communicating with your Palm handheld. Incompatible Applications ------------------------- The following applications have been known to conflict with Pocket Tunes, causing various problems. BugMe!: May cause a crash requiring a reset. May prevent the popup console from operating. VolumeRocker: Remaps the 5-way navigator so that it does not function with Pocket Tunes. Also causes a crash when bringing up the Pocket Tunes console. TreoNavSet: Same problems as VolumeRocker. CJKOS: Can cause crash requiring reset. WebPro: Some versions cause crash when accessing streaming audio. Update WebPro software to solve this problem. Blazer: Some versions cause crash when accessing streaming audio. Update Blazer software to solve this problem. TextPlus: May cause soft reset when Pocket Tunes is playing in the background. Treo Alert Manager: May cause crash. Treo 600 Mail (Beta): Causes crash when checking mail in background. Solution undetermined at this time. Launcher III: May slow expansion card by about 250%, causes audio skipping. Solution is to update to Launcher X. LightWav: Some versions cause crash when used with Pocket Tunes version 2.3.2. LightWav released a patch to solve this problem on 3/29/04. Install version 1.4.1 Build #57 (or later) available at: http://www.toysoft.ca/lightwav.html.
