-------------
Resco Blue FTP implements (the Server side of) Bluetooth File Transfer Profile (FTP) on a Palm OS device.
When you run Resco Blue FTP on your handheld, then any device able to use Bluetooth FTP will be also able to browse and manipulate your files.
A short list of devices that can act as Bluetooth FTP clients:
- Another Palm OS device running Resco Explorer 2008
- A desktop PC using Widcomm Bluetooth stack (normally installed together with a BT dongle)
- Mac OS X v10.2 or later
- Linux computers with installed Bluez (Bluetooth stack) and OpenFTP
Devices that probably will not be able to act as Bluetooth FTP clients:
- PPC, laptops: You would have to replace Microsoft Bluetooth drivers
- Nokia/Symbian: While these devices have a good driver support, there are no good file managers available.
Further conditions to use connection via Blue FTP:
- Your Palm OS device must have the Bluetooth switched on and it must be discoverable.
- The devices must be in range. (It means sufficiently close.)
- Bluetooth must not be used for other activities.
- Incompatible character sets between the client and server may lead to problems, especially with localized folder names.
Remark:
Similar functionality is offered by Softick Blue Files. ($15 shareware)
