The database editor is accessible from the New icon 
and from Create Using... menu item attached to each database in the database manager.
It is also possible to edit an existing database.
The first thing to do before defining the database fields is to give the database a name and choose its type. By default, the only available type is “DB” unless you have loaded the appropriate database driver as a plugin.
