A database may be opened in several modes. The most frequent mode is “Read/Edit” that allows for some protection of your data from inadvertent editing. That way when you are viewing a record, it is impossible to edit it directly. Before doing so, you need to tap on the icon. The will vanish and the various fields may be accessed for editing.
