Send text messages to friends.

Don't have time for a phone call? Send a text message instead. Go to Applications and select Messaging. Select New, and enter a mobile phone number or email address in the To field.

Enter your message and select Send.

Share pictures and videos.

Send the pictures and videos on your device to your friends. From a new message, select "Add media..." and then select "Attach picture/video" to insert a picture or video. You can even jazz it up by adding a voice clip.

Chat it up!

When you exchange more than one message with someone, the messages are grouped into a chat session. You can easily view all the messages sent and received at the top of the screen and chat some more at the bottom.

Easy lookup of numbers and email addresses.

Already have the email address or phone number stored in your contacts? When addressing a message, just enter the first initial followed by the last name of the recipient to select from a list of matching contacts.

Or select the To field and press Center to select from a list of recently used addresses.

QuickText adds speed and Emoticons add spice!

Use the QuickText button at the bottom of the screen to insert predefined phrases such as "Call me" into your message. Or, select QuickText, and then select Edit QuickText to save your own phrases. Select the Emoticons button to insert a "smiley" that expresses your feelings.

It's easy to call someone who sent you a message from their phone.

While viewing the message, press Send and select Dial. You can also select Respond, and then select Call Sender.

Save messages you want to keep

Occasionally you will want to delete your old messages, especially if you use messaging a lot. To save a special message, highlight the message, and then open the menus and select Copy to Saved folder. To access these messages later, select the folder pick list at the top of the message list and then select Saved.

Cleaning house.

You can delete individual messages or a group of messages. To delete a single message or chat, select it in the message list and press Backspace.

To delete several messages at once, open the menus and select Purge.

Save time with Favorites.

If you frequently send text messages to someone who is not in your contacts or to a group of people, create a Favorite button to save time.

Press Phone and select an empty Favorite button. Select Message from the Types pick list, and then enter the address(es). To send a message, simply press Phone, and then select the favorite button.

More ways to send messages.

Send messages directly from your Contacts list. Highlight a mobile phone number or email address and select Message. In other applications, tap a mobile phone number, and then select Message.
