Instructions

Each game mode has different objectives but the gameplay is the same throughout. Change from one word to another by altering one letter.

  • You can insert a letter into a word to form a new word (add the letter ‘S’ to PALM to make PSALM).
  • You can change a letter to form a new word (change the letter ‘M’ to ‘E’ to get from PALM to PALE).
  • You can delete a letter to form a new word (remove the letter ‘F’ from LEFT to make LET).

Game Modes

Target Trial:
Your objective is to get from one word to another a certain amount of changes. Lexy the likeable letter linker will have done it in two less than the target. Try to embarrass the little fellow by beating his solution. If you get more than him, he’ll be the first to let you know! Each time you finish a puzzle a new one will be generated but the difficulty will increase as you get better. If you go over the target amount of changes the game is over and if you’ve got a high enough score you can enter your name in the hall of fame.

Chain Challenge
Your objective is to change as many words as you can in three minutes. You’ll be told which method of change to use so you’ll have to think quickly in order to get on the top of the high score table. A word will appear in the play area and one of three things will happen.

  1. A line of delete symbols will appear over the word (tap one to remove a letter making a new word)
  2. A ‘?’ will appear over one of the letters (choose a new letter to replace this letter making a new word)
  3. A gap in the word will appear (choose a letter to insert into the gap making a new word)
Each time you get a word the time will increase but when the time runs out the game is over if you have a high enough score then you will get to enter the high score table.

Chain Race:
Your objective is to get the highest score you can before the three minutes runs out. You start with a source and target word just like in target trial but in this mode you don’t have to get the target word. If you do get it though, you will get some extra time and more points so its always a good idea to try for the target word. You can get extra point for making words that have unusual letters in them like Z and Q. each letter is worth a point score rather like in Scrabble and if you make a word that has a high score then you will get a ‘tricky word bonus’ if you make sequences of ‘tricky words’ then you will get even more points. You can only score a tricky word once however to eliminate the possibility of getting into a loop of ten tricky words.

Free Play If you have registered the game then you can play this mode. There is no timer and you are not up against a set amount of moves. As the name suggests you are free to change the words for fun. There is no high score entry so there is no pressure, just play this mode to relax or for practise.
