Changes in IDGuard v2.02
Custom icons
- Install IconListBuilder.exe either from the exe installer or from the zip installer.
(Must be installed in the same folder where IDGuard desktop resides.)
- IconListBuilder extracts icons from various sources - icl icon lists or exe files, for example -
and builds IDGuard custom icons, i.e. the file IDGuardCustomIcons.icl.
- This list is then used by IDGuard as the source of additional icons.
- When ready, install the list onto the Palm OS device. (Menu > Tools > Palm OS > Install Custom Icons to Device)
- You need IDGuard for Palm OS v2.02, too.
- Tip: Use Google to find sample icl files on the web.
- Tip: Sample icon list is included in the IDGuard installer, too.

Changes in IDGuard v2.01.3 BETA
Due to a Hotsync bug (part of the database called SortInfo is lost in the Hotsync process) there was
another change of the Data Source format.
IDGuard can work with the old Data Sources, but if you want to use the synchronization, an upgrade is necessary.
The transition to the newest format is smooth; you get an offer to upgrade:
- PDA: In the Data Source login dialog.
- PC: When opening the Data Source. (If you use a single Data Source, you need to close it and re-open.)
- Of course, another possibility is the password change.
Other news:
- (PC, conduit) Prevention of the simultaneous editing of the same Data Source
Example: Hotsync of the modified (and unsaved) Data Source will be refused.
- (PC) User request: Multi-line maskable fields are represented as single line when masked.
- (PC)Better lock control
- (PC)Text output: Expanding TABs, new lines act as terminators in the detail view
- (PC)Reminders
- (PC, conduit)Improved synchronization.
- (PC, PDA) Other minor improvements
Changes in IDGuard v2.01.2 BETA
- (PC) Better tooltips, more user-friendly texts at some places
- (PC) Improved locking of the child windows
- (PC) Html exports include code page info. Should solve the problem with Chinese/Japanese characters.
- (PC,PDA) Hotsync: Better treatment of the password change.
- (PC,PDA) Small improvements (drag, Categories/Templates dialogs etc.)

- Bug fixes
Changes in IDGuard v2.01.0 BETA
Changes on the Palm OS side
- Data Source version changed. The old format is supported, but if you want to make use of the synchronization,
you need to upgrade the Data Source format. To do so, change the Data Source password.
- Layout dialog: Background color
- Layout dialog: Templates can be excluded from the tree
- Added viewer of the txt attachments
- More icons to select from
- Bug fixes
The rest concerns the desktop version.
Compatibility
- The data source format has changed in order to better support the synchronization.
- To upgrade to the new format open the data source and change the password.
- Unless you'll do this step, the data source will not support the synchronization.
- Newly created (not cloned!) data sources use the new format automatically.
Data source location
- By default the data sources are placed in the standard folder under Documents&Settings.
- Other locations are allowed, but the sync process will generally ignore such data sources.
(And the user is discouraged to use such locations.)
Synchronization
- Sync Against... menu commands allows to sync opened data source against another data source.
- If there are any unresolved conflicts, IDGuard displays Sync icon in the upper toolbar.
You have to press this icon and resolve the conflicts manually - until then further synchronization is disallowed.
Export/Import
- Export to Html/Xml/Csv
- Import from Xml/Csv
- Import from KeePass, SplashID vID, Adarian
- XML export/import provides roundtrip - i.e. it can be used as kind of backup/restore (incl. attachments)
Document records
- You can add a "document record" if you drag the file onto the "record list"
- Similar effect has the menu command New Document
- 2click on the document record opens the document in its viewer. (E.g. xls file is opened in Excel.)
Registration
- Desktop IDGuard accepts the same unlock code as the Palm OS version.
- I.e. you have to put your Palm OS HotsyncID as the user name. (Case sensitive!)
- If you don't have the unlock code, you can still use IDGuard for unlimited period.
The only drawback is the nag reg dialog at the program start.
Integration with Palm OS
- Hotsynced Data Sources can be imported using menu command Import Palm OS Data Sources...
- Desktop Data Sources can be installed on the device using menu option Hotsync Opened Data Source
Other news
- Data Sources with old format (those created with IDGuard v1.xx) can be upgraded when you close and re-open the Data Source
- Improved locking
- Password Strength Meter in password-related dialogs
- One or more attachments can be dropped onto the record.
- New menu command: Clone Data Source. Use to duplicate opened data source.
- Record has popup menu (right click)
- Record list is sorted
- Delete of the records or attachments is non-destructive. (I.e. it can be undone as long as the data source is not saved.)
- Records can be printed. (Menu > Record > Preview)
- Html preview of all records
- You can add an attachment if you drag the file onto the "record view"
- Progress added to lengthy operations
- Options dialog
