GraffitiStateIndicator is a hack program for the Palm TX and other new Palm OS 5.4 units that restores the Graffiti State Indicator (GSI) that earlier Palm versions used to have but that Palm has removed. This is a small marker that shows whether the operating system's auto shift is active (e.g., first word in sentence), and shows other things, such as caps lock. (Some of these are less useful with Graffiti 2, and hence Palm removed it.) GSI is perhaps most useful in combination with the hex keyboards that myKbd provides.
This utility is a hack for yahm, Igor Nestorov's hack manager for OS5 and earlier units (yahm.palmoid.com). To install GSI, you should install yahm.prc first. Hotsync both GraffitiStateIndicator.prc and yahm.prc. In yahm select the "A" button (different buttons let you have different combinations of hacks loaded). Then, having made sure you have a full backup just in case, turn on Graffiti State Indicator by checking the checkbox to the left of its name.
Individual applications specify whether the GSI is active or not in any given form, and where the GSI shows up. If an application has not specified a position for the GSI, then the GSI will not show up in that application.
